CloudDle
Helping young people relieve stress in a physical way.
ClouDle is decompression furniture based on the concept of clouds and bubbles. From a physical point of view, this seat provides people with a variety of sensory decompression methods. The seat is like a tumbler, and people can swing with it when they sit on it. The white noise caused by the gentle shaking of the sand at the bottom helps people achieve auditory relaxation. When people are under pressure, some subconscious hand movements can make the lights in the small clouds turn on under pressure. It creates a variety of emotional atmospheres. All the clouds can be disassembled and used individually to meet people's needs.
Insight
In the interviews, I found that many people do physical actions (squeeze, hit, yell...) to release stress. I chose clouds as the symbol because of their soft touch and the sense of wrapping will help people to relax. Using “bubble” as a base helps people to shake their bodies like a tumbler.Light and white noise can bring emotional relief to people in a certain atmosphere.
Idea
The original intention of my project was to help young people relieve their stress. It encourages people to always feel warm and fuzzy, no matter what troubles they are facing. The project stimulates multiple senses and offers different ways to use it. People's ears will hear the white noise from the bottom of the "bubble", they can perceive the softness of the "clouds", and they can see the change of the lights. We should always learn to relieve ourselves in a way that feels comfortable to us.
Impact
Emotions are diverse and expressed in different ways. Maybe we could think about more ways people interact with furniture through this project. Young people often have a lot of stress and a lot of emotions that they don't want to talk about or convey. I hope people could learn to get along with themselves and know how to release their emotions instead of hiding them.
