Aether SmartTiles bring digital NFT art to life as modular frames, displayed in your home. They can be purchased as a single tile to be used as a painting, a set to create a larger mural, or a bigger set to create a feature wall. Each tile is artist collaborated, engaged through augmented reality, authenticated on the blockchain, and made sustainably.
Insight
Blockchain and NFTs are some of the biggest disruptors for design in recent years. Non-Fungible-Tokens are unique digital assets that have legitimate proof-of-ownership by registering it on a network such as Ethereum. As the first wave of hype for NFTs is passing, concepts that provide true value and use-cases will last the test of time.
Idea
A platform that brings the work of digital artists to life, as a modular-tiling-system to cover the walls of your home. The SmartTile’s are gateways to immersive experiences accessed through augmented reality.
Impact
Allows digital artists to physically see and feel their work. Creates higher incentive for collectors to invest in NFT artists. Modular design allows for use in any sized space and complete customization. Artists earn commissions when tiles are traded. Business is scalable to create tokenized furniture and eventually pre-fabs. The aim is to create a bridge between our physical and digital worlds to create a new realm, known as the Aether.
Biography
Shabad is a product designer based in Toronto. He is passionate about using design and business-strategy to help solve social causes and sustainability needs. Bringing ideas to life that empower users or give them joy, is what he enjoys most. Visualizing those ideas as either digital experiences or studio models are key skills of his and he has a focus to make sure that systems are designed for the growth of the user or business.
