APOLLO

How can we allow more ideas to be explored and less ideas to be shut down?

Many ideas that come to the surface during exploratory meetings and discussions are destroyed and dismissed due to misunderstanding, misinterpretation, face value impressions and poor engagement. However, we would like to develop those ideas, instead of dismissing and destroying them. The mission for Apollo is to provide an approach to this phase of the creative process with a tool/platform that guides the engagement with ideas of our own and others in group settings, provides the opportunity to revisit and revise these engagements to further unpack the true value of them, and the opportunity to traffic ideas just as if they were valuable merchandise.Mission Apollo urges creatives to explore ideas, engage with them, and evolve them within meetings and discussions in both the in-person and remote contexts; but also outside of that, when we are on the train or bus, checking our phones at work, or even snuggled up in our beds through the universe of ideas that APOLLO has opened up.

Insight

Many ideas that are brought to surface in the exploration phase of the creative process are destroyed or dismissed simply due to misunderstanding, misinterpretation, face value impressions and poor engagement; causing creatives to miss out on opportunities of gaining creative confidence and creative value.Ideas come and go at early stages, or are not even allowed to be shared with others due to fear of getting shut down or brushed off. Feedback and responses to ideas are also found to be sharedIn an unorganized or unclear way, ideas can only exist in that moment; with no way for an individual or group to nurture and better understand them. This leads to the short lifespan of ideas that continue to be dismissed every day with significant untapped potential.

Idea

I have responded to this problem by providing a sub-process to implement into this phase of the creative process, introducing a UI platform that guides creatives to effectively engage with ideas of our own and others in group and individual, physical and non-physical settings. These common settings range from design meetings to laying in your bed, and the important engagements creatives have with ideas of their own and others. A design response that provides creatives with the opportunity to revisit and revise ideas in hopes to further develop and explore their value, and gain access to a new market of ideas where they can be engaged with and acted on, at any stage.

Impact

We can create in a world where ideas carry much more value in the common perception of creatives across different practices. Creatives have more confidence in their ideas and are better at conveying them to others, so there is more collaboration between creatives across different fields and the same fields that are connecting quicker than ever are working with and for each other. This is a world where more solutions are being provided and explored and there are opportunities that exist and are harvested every day. A world where creatives unlock the true value of the creative industries.

He is interested in cross-pollinating design (experimenting with different practices & methodologies) with ID/UI/UX design as a base/foundation. He approaches design by making connections with the interpretations of his own and others. His work is often influenced by the thought, “escape immaturity”; as a reminder to maintain strong resolve & trust when designing. He believes design must make sense, should have meaning, and could control the course of the world.
