TRÄNA
How might we bring at-home exercise to anyone in any space?
As many of us are stuck at home due to COVID-19, our living spaces have become our office, school, and for many, the gym. I hope to leverage this opportunity of people realizing the unmatched convenience of at-home exercise by providing multi-functional exercise furniture, while also proving that for many, space and budget does not have to be sacrificed in order to accommodate an effective workout and continued fitness progression.
Insight
The initial motivation behind this project was the COVID-19 lockdowns. The restrictions closed gyms and forced those who had been reliant on these facilities to now exercise at home. Gym users now had to adapt their exercise goals and strategies, and many average users found themselves stepping back and re-evaluating the need for a conventional gym experience.
Idea
TRANA takes the form of an ottoman/bench that fits tastefully into a variety of living spaces. It is designed to accommodate a wide range of exercise styles including resistance, strength, aerobic, and HIIT training. It also welcomes user progression, as it facilitates bodyweight, resistance band, and free weight exercises, with all equipment conveniently stored inside.
Impact
At a time when prioritizing physical and mental health is of utmost importance, my intention is to provide anyone, regardless of their living situation, access to a complete array of exercises and routine possibilities. While taking advantage of the convenience, privacy, and affordability that at-home exercise brings.
