The Maggi collection

How can we design furniture to incorporate play value into the modern home?

The Maggi Collection is designed to allow children to interact and play within their homes; utilizing creativity, imagination, and play as a source for fun and activity. While also giving parents the chance to feature high-end contemporary design within the home. The cushions add a play feature that is unparalleled to other play furniture systems. They act as a catalyst for fun and amusement, giving the children the chance to excite their minds and create a new imaginative environment within a familiar home setting.

Insight

With three key design objectives in mind, this project is able to function and create a well designed solution to the problem. Simplicity, Aesthetics, and good Play Value are the three objectives that will be able to elevate the project and create meaningful and thoughtful designed objects.

Idea

I’ve chosen to design the solution by designing a playful, multifunctional, modular furniture system, that allows different configurations and combinations that can either be combined together or used separately as stand alone objects.

In addition to this product are it’s multifunctional shape matching cushions, that will be upholstered, high density foam, so the uses of the cushions are endless. They can be used as play toys to build forts, relax with, and just all around enjoy due to their colours and wacky shapes.

Impact

The goal of these objects is for children to use their creativity by making stories, connections and awakening new emotions through playing with these large objects in their home. I believe The Maggi Collection can do so successfully.
