Node

How can design address the inefficiencies within the current model of data consent to better obtain meaningful, informed consent for personal data while addressing the expectant changes within technology in our public environments?

Node defines a new archetype for data consent, one which facilitates informed consent for the residents of the smart neighbourhood proposed by Alphabet’s Sidewalk Labs. Through the use of an app and corresponding “node”, personalized consent is translated into an automated, passive system recognized by the digital layer of Quayside. Node creates a seamless interaction with the sensor-enabled environment while ensuring the privacy and security of personal data in an increasingly digital world.
