Paintstrument: A New Flexible Music Performance Tool
How does one enrich the experience of large-scale music performance through available technologies, emphasizing flexibility, accessibility and functionality?
Electronic musical instruments today are not designed with large-scale performance in mind. Most electronic performances today consist of an artist pushing buttons or turning knobs, acts which are both uneventful & cryptic to most audience members. Thus, I aim through my design to meld elements of musical & visual creation through my design solution. Painstrument is a flexible performance tool for all musicians, using pre-existing hardware, and accessible to users with limited dexterity.
